Hope Springs Eternal!❤️
Five-year-old Hope came into rescue after suffering a devastating spinal injury that had already required surgery months earlier. But after that surgery, she never received the rehabilitation therapy she desperately needed. Without it, muscles weaken, mobility declines, and recovery becomes dramatically more difficult.
By the time Hope came to us, the damage was impossible to ignore. But despite everything she had been through… Hope never stopped trying. She had taught herself how to pull herself across the floor, dragging her little back end behind her just to get where she wanted to go. Nothing was going to stop her. It was both heartbreaking💔 … and incredible .🙏
Her dedicated superhero foster mom quickly rigged up a sling to help support her and keep her upright while we searched desperately for answers. At Hope’s initial veterinary evaluation, we were told that so much time had passed since her injury that the odds of surgery helping her were very low.
Amazingly, the veterinarian believed Hope still had feeling in both hind feet. We rushed Hope to the UF Small Animal Hospital for emergency neurological evaluation. Hope was admitted for an MRI the following morning. Specialists still believed rehabilitation therapy might improve her mobility and quality of life—and we hold tightly to that belief.
Hope has already endured surgery, emergency hospitalization, neurology consultations, and advanced imaging—and her journey is far from over. We HOPE you can help HOPE as her rehabilitation progresses. Thank you always for your generosity and thoughtfulness! xo
