Fletcher

Ponte Verda

Introducing Fletcher! This cutie-pie is an 8-year-old neutered Black and Tan boy who was rescued from a shelter. He needed our help urgently and was examined immediately upon rescue and again with his permanent foster family. His original vetting was done by Dr. Pamela Hendrickson at ABCDE Animal Clinic. Fletcher weighs 15.8 pounds and needs to gain no more than one pound; he has severe muscle atrophy in his hind legs. His heart murmur was assessed as a grade 5/6 on the left and a grade 3/6 on the right; he will see cardiology in two weeks.

He has five teeth left with periodontal disease, was started on antibiotics and will need dental treatment in the future. Fletcher came into rescue with a very low hematocrit (percentage of total blood volume that is red blood cells). After much testing, his iron deficiency anemia is likely caused by fleas. Prior to arrival in rescue, Fletcher had a history of flea infestation which is now resolved. Results of titer testing are pending.

His second visit was done by Dr. Martina Sander at Oceanview Veterinary Hospital in Jacksonville Beach. Fletcher's hematocrit is higher and he has been started on Pet Tinic supplement to support red blood cell production. His CBC will be checked again in 2-3 weeks. Fletcher is being treated for a left ear infection. Awe, Fletcher is the sweetest little gent and we know his life got sooooo much better by being with us. Feel better soon, Fletcher! Let's send him a lot of love. xo

He is not available for adoption right now, so we can get him healed, happy and healthy... Visit our socials for more pupdates and pics of sweet Fletcher.
