Our ruby beauty Sabrina needs a hero!

10-year-old Sabrina was an owner surrender from a family that had a toddler and a newborn and were not able to spend time with her. We were told she would growl when the toddler pulled on her tail, so we fear the young child was not kind to her. Possibly Sabrina has a bit of PTSD…

Under our care, she has been examined by Neurology and has been diagnosed with Syringomyelia. Sabrina has moments where she will growl and resource guard at times; she was seen by our Behaviorist Veterinarian for her OCD.

Like our recently adopted Ryan­--she is not overly cuddly, but kind of does her own thing and needs to do everything at her own pace and space. Sabrina will give cues when she needs space and we just let her be.

Petite Sabrina (16 pounds) can be very sweet and she loves going on walks, she does seem to favor men. We are looking for a calm, low stress environment for her as our Placement Team works on finding her Furever Family; experience with puppy mill or fearful dogs might be the best environment for her.

Other requirements include:

✔️ She does get along with calm dogs, but cats or young children are not advised.

✔️Patient, calm and caring household.

✔️Sabrina does need to be fed separately from other dogs in the house.

✔️She loves the yard, so a secured fenced in yard is required.

✔️Pool might not be the best fit for her.

✔️Low alone hours with a patient family who just “lets her be.”

✔️Previous adopters with puppy mill experience are helpful.
