Olive
Daytona Beach
Introducing adorable Olive! Olive is a seven-year-old spayed brown and white Cavalier mix who came into rescue as her owner had passed away; primary care medical records for the last two years documented the diagnosis of cataracts and vision loss and included no assessment by an ophthalmologist.
Olive was examined by board certified veterinary ophthalmologist Matthew Chandler; Olive's Schirmer tear tests showed her tear production was normal, Fluorescein stain tests showed no corneal ulcers, and intraocular pressures were normal meaning no glaucoma. On exam Olive has advanced/mature cataracts in both eyes, which is the cause for her vision loss; there is also evidence of chronic keratitis in both eyes, moderate fibrosis/scarring, as well as corneal pigmentation. Her prominent eyes are due to her shallow eye orbits. Olive can see only light and sadly, she is a poor candidate for cataract surgery. She was prescribed daily eye drops to reduce inflammation and ease any discomfort and Optixcare to lubricate her corneas. Sweet Olive will need a yearly recheck. Awe, we love you, Olive! xo
This beauty is not available for adoption yet as we get her settled in and comfortable. Let's send this little angel a lot of love!
