Olive

Greet Olive, an adorable brown and white Cavalier mix. The first thing you will notice about Olive is her prominent eyes caused by shallow eye orbits. This petite girl has advanced cataracts causing her to be blind. She can only see bright light but uses her other senses to navigate her world. Don’t worry, little Olive still enjoys life and has so much love to give. 

With verbal cues and a regular routine, smart Olive learns new things quickly. Breakfast is her favorite meal and if you are not fast enough preparing it, Olive will let you know with a cute little bark. This girl eats like a champ. Pint-sized Olive is learning words like “lift” when she is about to be picked up and “yummy” when a treat is near! Other words like ‘outside’, and ‘bedtime’ help Olive understand the world around her.

Olive thoroughly loves riding in a stroller. What a fun and enjoyable way to explore the great outdoors! However, Olive loves to walk on a leash, where she can sniff around and discover her surroundings on her own terms. She is housebroken and settles into her bed at night, averaging 7 hours of beauty rest.

Providing Olive with a secure home environment will be critical to keeping her safe. Sweet Olive is looking for a special human to help guide her along her journey. Can she count on you to be the one to do that?

🐾 Circumstances: Owner passed away.

❤️ Health: Other than being blind, Olive is in general good health for her age.

CRF microchips all rescues.

🏡 Forever Home Requirements:

✔️ Willingness to use verbal queues when training.

✔️ Commitment to routine eye care and regular ophthalmology visits. 

✔️ A quieter household is probably best. Olive would be fine as an only dog.
