Marco

Grateful.  It’s the one word that is the essence of handsome Marco. His owner preceded him over the Rainbow Bridge, and he was passed around a bit and separated from his brother before being surrendered to rescue. But spend a few moments with Marco, as he snuggles into you, and you get that overwhelming feeling that he’s just saying, “Thank you.” Never a complaint, always easy going, and just grateful to be with you.

Marco’s made himself at home quickly in his foster home and seems to enjoy the minor bedlam of all his foster siblings while he warms the sofa for you. He definitely belongs with a few brothers and/or sisters. This senior Tri-color is a super-sized Cavalier, taller and longer than your average. His foster Mom gave him the nickname of “Bear.” Give him a raised bowl and he’s a good eater. 

Given his age and size, Marco’s a tad slow in getting up. But don’t let that fool you, he loves his walks. You can see him anticipating them when he knows it’s almost time.  That said, we’re not a particular fan of hanging out in the yard.

This boy has been invited into the big bed and sleeps there happily. Marco sometimes loves to sing the songs of his people, has a cute face and gentle nature about him, and he loves everyone!

Perhaps it is the wisdom of age, or maybe the path he’s had to walk, but Marco exudes that Gratitude. Is there any more virtuous approach to life? And doesn’t that make dear Marco a perfect companion?

🐶 Age: Marco is 12 years old.

👍🏻 Weight: 33 lbs.

🐾 Circumstances: Owner preceded him over the Rainbow Bridge.

🐕 Temperament: A friendly, loving boy who knows the power of gratitude.

❤️ Health: Marco is doing well for a senior of his age.  As stated, he’s a big boy, but does need to lose a few pounds. He’s being treated for ear infections and some much-needed dental work. Marco has cataracts in both eyes that likely makes his vision a tad fuzzy, and he will be examined by a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist. With his size and age, movement is rather lumbered and jumping up isn’t in his wheelhouse. Marco also has a moderate heart murmur and will be evaluated by a cardiologist. Currently not on any medications. CRF microchips all rescues.

🏡 Forever Home Requirements:

✔️ Preferably an at-home adult most of the day.

✔️ A fenced yard is probably preferable.

✔️ Commitment to daily walks/exercise to help maintain his health.

✔️ Another companion dog (or full pack) preferred.
