Bailey

Marathon

Meet Bailey, an example of the royalty of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels for sure. He’s had a very good life, and that just might have included a little too much feasting around the castle. But the monarchy is in the midst of a succession, as his liege has passed away and this 6-year-old Blenheim is awaiting the crowing of his next sovereign.

Yet Bailey is finding a welcome focus on his health as he settles into his foster home.  Due to some mobility issues, and as befitting a royal, he is accustomed to being lifted up onto the couch, the bed, and into the regal coach, where he rides with, of course, perfect protocol. And Bailey’s walks are limited and always followed by a nice nap.

His foster Mom dotes on him appropriately and calls him, “A lover for sure!” Bailey likes the new attention very much, and also those squeaky toys. He looks forward to mealtime and thinks this next chapter might indeed be very good!

Will you accede to the throne and be Bailey’s next King or Queen?

🐶 Age: Bailey is 6 years old.

👍🏻 Weight: 24 lbs.

🐾 Circumstances: Owner preceded him over the Rainbow Bridge.

🐕 Temperament: A sweet and benevolent ruler!

❤️ Health: Bailey was examined by Dr. Kirra Johnson at Marathon Veterinary Hospital.  He weighs 24 pounds and needs to lose about 4 pounds and he is being treated for an ear infection. Bailey has a grade 1-2 heart murmur, a grade 2/4 MPL (medial luxation patella) aka an occasionally dislocating kneecap with evidence of arthritis, some mild pain in lumbar spinal regions, and moderate tartar on his teeth. He’ll have some further evaluation. Good news - his blood work is normal.  CRF microchips all rescues.

Happy healing sweet, Bailey!  We love you.  XO
